Dear Parents/ Guardians,
This week is a very special week for our falcons. This week we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day! Typically, during Valentine’s Day we give valentines to our classmates, our families, and other people we care about to let them know that we love and appreciate them. That is a great thing to do, but it’s also important to take time to remind ourselves of all the reasons we love ourselves! When we love ourselves, we feel better, we believe in ourselves, and we are more forgiving of ourselves when we make little mistakes.
This week we’re going to celebrate all of the things we truly love about ourselves! Students in grades 2nd through 4th will participate in a special classroom guidance lesson to find out what they love about themselves. All of our falcons have wonderful qualities that are so lovable. I hope we can all take a moment to remind our falcons what we love about them. Also, take a moment to remind yourself why you are special and loved.
I have also been visiting the 7th and 8th grade classrooms. They have been learning all about perspective taking. Perspective taking is the ability to see a situation from someone else’s eyes. This is a challenging skill for many. We discussed why this skill is important and why it may be difficult. Students participated in real life examples of how this skill is used in everyday life. We discussed how others may be thinking and/or feeling. Check out the video below and challenge yourself to some perspective taking.
