In addition to rigorous academic programs, St. Francis de Sales Parish School also offers rich and diverse extracurricular activities aimed at helping students develop a balanced student life.
Students in grades 5-8 have the opportunity to learn from one of Akron’s greatest High School Band Directors, Mr. Brian Campbell. No experience is necessary as Mr. Campbell offers a beginning band as well as an Advanced band. Students work hard to learn music and play instruments so they can showcase their efforts in a Spring concert.
Student Experience Center
Our newly renovated Student Experience Center offers students the opportunity to explore photography, broadcasting, horticulture, art, music, creativity as well as the culinary arts. This space is a wonderland for all ages and allows our students to identify their true passions and highlight the gifts and talents God has given them.
The St. Francis de Sales School Choir is formed by interested children in grades 5-8 who attend the school. Additionally, students in grades 3-4 who are in the Parish Youth Choir are invited to serve in the school choir as well. This choir of young music ministers serves the assembly during school Masses and additional Liturgies. The youth in this choir humbly serve lifting all hearts to be closer to God through music.
School Cantors are students who are part of the St. Francis de Sales School Choir who are selected by the Director of Music to lead the school assembly during Masses and Liturgies. The students humbly and prayerfully serve encouraging the voice of the assembly to Praise God. Cantors need to be comfortable learning and leading new music singing solo or as a duet.
Our CYO sports program is a great way for students in grades 3-8 to learn the importance of team competition, working hard, and the joy of good sportsmanship. Our falcons have the opportunity to explore basketball, volleyball, track and field and cross country.

The musicals offer students many opportunities to participate in multiple areas of the theater arts ranging from set preparation to stage crew and from lead roles to supporting players and the chorus. Preparation begins around the first of November each year for presentation dates the middle of March.
