October 28 Eblast Information
Currently the weather forecast is calling for a 69% chance of rain between 1p and 2p. Since our parade begins at 1:30p it will most likely be indoors, but we will send out an email update to you in the morning by 11 am with our final decision regarding an indoor or outdoor parade. If it is indoors, the email in the morning will have the link to view the parade, as parents will not be permitted to come in the building for the parade.
If we are able to parade outdoors, visitors will only be able to enter the parking lot and park at 1:10p. You must drive slowly and carefully and park between the church and the cones. The parade route will begin at the Kindergarten doors, parade down next to the playground, parade on the sidewalk in front of the Memorare Center, parade on the sidewalk next to the Church, and then head in the front doors. Those viewing the parade should stay behind the cones and on the inside of the parking lot off of the sidewalks. We will block entrances at 1:30 for the parade and will not permit any cars to enter or exit.
Immediately following our Halloween parade, our parties will take place tomorrow, Friday, October 29, from 1:45-2:45p. PK-4 will be celebrating with individual parties in their homerooms and grades 5-8 will be celebrating with their grade band teams (5th/6th and 7th/8th). The sign-ups and explanation of the parties at each grade level have been emailed to you by your child’s homeroom teacher or teaching team. If you can’t find that email, please ask your child’s teacher.
Out of Uniform Dress for Friday October 29 and Halloween Costume Info
Please remember that all out of uniform clothing/ daily masks must be Catholic School appropriate and have no blood, gore, weapons, or inappropriate messages. We ask that you keep in mind when choosing the out of uniform dress for the day, that we will still be attending our whole-school Mass on that day and anything worn should be appropriate for Mass. Students may remain in their dress down attire if they don’t want to put on a costume or put on simple costumes for their Halloween celebrations. Please be aware that costumes and accessories must be able to fit in a bag, your child should be able to carry it into school easily themselves, and your child should be able to put it on (preferably over clothing) with ease. If your child’s costume can be worn as part of their dress down attire and then accessorized to make it a costume before the party that is also acceptable. (Example: cow girl costume, dress in jeans, flannel, and boots that day, and later put on a cowgirl hat and vest). Since students will still need to easily walk in our hallways and up and down stairs, we are asking for no blow up costumes.PK students are permitted to wear their costumes to school that day. Please make sure the costumes are comfortable enough to be worn throughout their entire school day.
If you have any questions about costumes, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher and they will either answer your question or find out the answer for you.
Fall Book Fair
We will be hosting a Fall Book Fair this year on Nov. 1st, 2nd, that our students will be able to attend in-person. Nov. 4 is a day for parents to come in and shop from 10a-1p, with or without your child. While you can send your child in with cash or check made payable to St. Francis de Sales, we highly recommend using Scholastic’s eWallet. eWallet is a safe, cashless checkout. You can create an eWallet for each child, reload anytime, and buy books for your child’s classroom library! Please see the flyer about it in this week’s Thursday folder to learn how to sign up. We are still in need of volunteers for Tuesday afternoon and all day Thursday and for tear down Thursday. If you have an hour or two and might be able to help, please check out this sign-up.
We are excited to conduct our Uniform Swap in person this year! The Swap will occur on the same days as the Book Fair, November 1st, 2nd, and 4th. During this event, all swap inventory will be displayed and families can shop for their needs.
In order to help us prepare for the Uniform Swap, we ask that you gather your gently used uniform pieces, mark the bag “Uniform Swap,” and send them into school with your child or drop them off throughout the school day at the main entrance. We will accept uniform pants, shorts, polo shirts, sweaters, and jumpers. Please have your donations sent in by this Thursday, October 28th.

Early Release Day
We have an Early Release scheduled for November 3rd, so that conferences can begin at 2:30pm. When we have an Early Release, there is NO bus transportation at the end of our day so you MUST pick your child/children up at the end of the day. On this day, those picking students up may not arrive in our parking lot before 1:15pm. We ask that you follow the same procedures we typically follow by only entering off of State St. through Diedrich Lane, by entering lane 1 or 2, and have a visible sign in your windshield by last name. Our personnel will then direct you when and where to pull forward to pick up your child. It is IMPERATIVE that everyone please do not enter our parking lot prior to 1:30pm. Please know that those who do not follow this will be asked to exit and reenter at the end of the line. YOU MAY NOT PARK IN THE LOT AND THEN CUT ACROSS TO GET IN LINE. If you do you will also be asked to exit the parking lot and get at the end of the line. It is also extremely important that you be patient and safe and listen to our staff that is present and assisting with dismissal. We are dismissing the entire school and need all to be safe. We are pleased to partner with our families in hosting Fall Conferences on November 3rd (2:30-6:00p) & 4th (8:00-6:00p). Our Fall Conferences are intended for every students’ parent(s) to talk with their child’s teachers about their progress thus far. Every family who would like a conference with their child’s teacher is invited to sign up. These conferences will be virtual conferences through the Zoom platform, except for our PK and Kindergarten conferences, which will be held in-person, due to the developmental needs and conversations needed regarding our youngest learners who are so new to school. If your teacher did not indicate the Zoom link/location on their sign-up, they will share with you via email at a later time. If you would like a conference with any one of your child’s Specials Teachers, please contact them via their email to set up. These conferences are meant for parents and teachers, if a teacher feels it would be beneficial to have your child present they will let you know in advance, otherwise we ask that these Pconferences be with parents only.
